Where is God in America?

I woke up this morning at 4AM missing God. I couldn't help remembering how close He was while we were in Africa. I thought about the time it takes for God to answer my prayers here in America and how EVERY prayer was answered instantly in Africa. We had no one to help us so we turned to Him for everything. Was that the answer? Think about it.... When we need advice about something, we call a friend. When we need work, we call a business associate. When we are bored, we turn on the television. When we were in Africa, we turned to God. No waiting! We needed help, we prayed, God answered, PERIOD! Everyday, all day long, all night long. We prayed for rain and it rained. We prayed for a cop on the street corner in Ougadougou to take back the ticket he wrote Lynn Kennedy and he did. We prayed for a rabies vaccine and He led us to the only one available in Burkina Faso. We prayed for safe passage for our truck on a washed out "road" during the pouring African rain (at night) and we made it back to Kamkaniba with no delays. I know that the same God is with me here in America and He will provide for my every need... If I just spend time with Him.

That feeling of presence and immediacy seems milder here in the US because we have so much of our needs met. I think that you have to seek it out here and work to push aside all the distractions.
